About the Granary

The Granary was built in the early 1900's to be a storage building for grain. In the great room, you can still see where the 12-foot high corncrib stood. Vestiges of bins for the storage of wheat, rye, barley and other crops are evident. The stairway once leading to the hammer-mill on the second story is original, as is the door connecting the great room and bedroom.

Forget about outhouses, carrying water and splitting firewood to stay warm, however. Renovated and refurbished in 2006, the Granary now has all the comforts that modern travelers expect.

The great room of the Granary with its high ceilings and hand-hewn chestnut beams is a charming place to entertain friends, visit with family, or settle down with a book or a movie.

The spacious kitchen is equipped to entertain a few friends or even a crowd. Sit at the kitchen table next to a cozy gas fireplace and enjoy views of old stone walls, woods, fields and passing wildlife.

Two spacious bedrooms offer queen-size beds, dressers, and beautiful views of the surrounding woods. Each bedroom has a closet and dressing area, so stow your luggage and relax! For the extra guest, there is a daybed in a sleeping alcove in the great room.

The bathroom facilities include a “bathroom” with tub/shower and sink, and a separate “privy” with a toilet and sink. For the warmer seasons, or the hardier visitor, there is also an outside shower.

A large deck in back offers privacy and cook-out possibilities. We invite you to enjoy a walk on the trail in our nearby hayfield or to explore the woods around you.
